Εκατοντάδες καταλήξεις domains έρχονται και θα αλλάξουν το ίντερνετ για πάντα (ICANN)

Τον Ιούνιο του 2011, η ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers), ο οργανισμός που είναι υπεύθυνος για τη διαχείριση όλων των TLDs (ονομασίες χώρου όπως τα ονομάζουμε στα Ελληνικά), αποφάσισε να αυξήσει σημαντικά τον αριθμό των TLDs (domain names), αλλάζοντας έτσι το Internet για πάντα!
Ξεκινώντας τον Ιανουάριο του 2012, πάνω από 1900 εταιρείες έκαναν αιτήσεις για σχεδόν αντίστοιχο αριθμό νέων TLDs. Η ICANN ανακοίνωσε τον πλήρη κατάλογο των αιτούντων τον Ιούνιο του 2012 και τα πρώτα νέα gTLDs αναμένεται να είναι διαθέσιμα για κατοχύρωση στα μέσα του 2013.
Η απελευθέρωση των domain names αναμένεται να επηρεάσει τόσο τους μεμονωμένους χρήστες όσο και τις επιχειρήσεις, αυξάνοντας τις επιλογές, την καινοτομία και τον ανταγωνισμό. Ο τρόπος που οι χρήστες αναζητούν πληροφορίες online πρόκειται να αλλάξει ενώ οι επιχειρήσεις θα έχουν νέες ευκαιρίες προκειμένου να διαχειριστούν και να προωθήσουν την online παρουσία τους.
Αυτό αυτομάτως θα σημάνει και το τέλος του domain trading.
